President & College Advisor, BB College Prep | 2020 - Present
I love working with students and I love being challenged. It’s why I struck out on my own to start a college advising business in the middle of the 2020 pandemic.
I help students with all the same things (essays, college lists, applications, not going crazy during the process) but I do it from Zoom and I work with students from all over the country. -
Instructor, College Counseling Certificate, UCLA | 2023 - Present
The UCLA College Counseling Certificate is designed for people in the college admissions space to expand their knowledge or establish a practice as an independent educational consultant. I will be teaching several courses each year related to starting and building a consulting practice and advising students on the college admission practice.

The Western Association for College Admission Counseling supports and advances the work of counseling and enrollment professionals from California and Nevada as they help all students realize their full potential, with emphasis on freshman and transfer transitions to higher education and attention to access and equity for all students. I was voted into this role by the membership in 2020.

Master Counselor, Collegewise | 2011 - 2021; Executive Director of Systems Innovation, Collegewise | 2018 - 2020
I worked as a college counselor at Collegewise, a private college counseling company with offices all over the United States. Collegewise believes that great educations take place at lots of colleges, not just at the famous ones. Earned Master Counselor level in 2014.
As Executive Director I wore some other hats: All those tech things? I managed them. All the efficiency things? I worked those out. -
Chair, Government Relations Committee, WACAC | 2016 - 2018, 2019 - 2020
The Government Relations Committee is part of the Executive Board of the Western Association of College Admission Counseling (WACAC). I planned a yearly event with training and teams for lobbying in Sacramento and led the policy goals of the organization.

Writer | Always
My major was creative writing and before that I started my writing career sitting under tables at my brother's Boy Scout meetings, scribbling in a notebook. I don't sit under tables anymore (not so ergonomic) but I still write. And I have even been published in a few magazines and on some web sites. This makes me pretty good at finding stories for students to write about on their applications (and even that grammar part, too).

Account Director, PlainJoe Studios | 2007 - 2011
The most non-college-y job of jobs, but I honed and sharpened my skills of project management which makes me excellent at keeping students on their timelines. Managed team of project managers, trained and developed team. Oversaw all client projects, time lines, and quality assurance. Participated in business development; managed/wrote contracts, operations and billing. Managed largest studio projects, including multi-million dollar, multi-year project.
