Meet the Team

The folks at BB College Prep have worked in admissions or education in different capacities for over a decade. We do this work because we enjoy what we do and we believe in supporting students in their journey to finding a great college fit. We also try to make it fun along the way.

I went to college a long time ago. But even when I was applying, it was a confounding process. I didn't know where to begin, how to find a college that fit me, or what to do once I had a list of schools. I ended up choosing schools based on how pretty their posters were in my high school college and career office, which is a strategy I do not recommend. I left my home in California and drove to Miami University of Ohio the summer after I graduated high school (in a van with my entire family). And I loved it there. While it would be pretty cool to have a job just sending students to Miami, the best college on Earth, I know there are thousands of colleges out there with amazing programs and communities and I want each student to experience their version of Miami (and not just use posters to find it).
From tackling grammar issues in essays to putting together a college list you really love, my job is to guide you through this admissions process in a way that doesn't make you crazy. Every spring, when my seniors are accepted into colleges, and they text me with excited emojis, my heart fills. It will sound super cheesy, but this is a dream job. I have been working in this space since 2011 and have worked with over 400 students from all over the United States. Students who are engaged in this process and take ownership over it are the most successful in my programs.
I work with students as early as 8th grade and tend to fill my class by the time we hit junior year, so starting early is usually a good plan. I want this process to be fun but also stress-free.
When I am not brainstorming essays, I am hanging out with my poorly behaved corgis or my very opinionated horse.

I am a freelance writer and editor with a background in both traditional publishing and digital media. I’ve worked as a college essay editor for three years, and joined BB College Prep in 2025. The Common App didn’t exist when I applied to college, but I remember overthinking / overwriting my college essay in my best efforts to say something deep and meaningful while also appearing breezy, like I had it all figured out. (I still do not.) There’s a vulnerability that comes with sharing yourself through writing, and I appreciate that each student arrives at the writing process in a different space. I enjoy discovering what is meaningful to them, what motivates them, and what they think. My goal is to make this journey lighter and even (gasp) enjoyable. When I am not behind the computer, I am providing taxi services to my three kids, trying to keep up with the books on my nightstand, and living large with our St. Bernard, Sylvi.

Editor
I've been editing college essays since 2018 and working with Breanne since 2021, but I've been supporting the Oxford comma since long before I entered any professional setting. My absolute favorite part of this job is helping students find and tell their stories in a way that truly shows who they are. When I'm not in the classroom (as a second grade teacher) or editing, I enjoy music, live theatre, exercising, and drawing. I'm super passionate about mental health awareness and advocacy work.

We are dedicated to alleviating the stress often associated with the college application process by providing comprehensive guidance tailored to each student's aspirations and preferences. By fostering a supportive and positive environment, we empower students to take ownership of their journey, embracing the opportunity to discover their passions and potential.

We like to keep it light over here and we want to help students with this process while keeping a good sense of humor. We also really like corgis so you will see them around (a lot).

What we stand for.

BB College Prep stands for access and equity in secondary and post-secondary education. We believe all students, regardless of first-generation status, age, race, immigration and refugee status, gender identity, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, location, and ability deserve an education that uplifts them, celebrates their identity, and allows them to flourish intellectually and socially. And they deserve to have access to that at an affordable price.

We believe books should not be banned.

We believe education should be a human right.

We believe in showing love to our neighbors.

BB College Prep has supported many larger organizations doing good work to bring access to students, including (but certainly not limited to) College Summit, Western Association for College Admission Counseling, National Association for Admission Counseling, and Point Foundation.

We are also involved in our local community groups and spend time advocating for and supporting LGBTQIA+ programs as often as possible. BB College Prep is proud to be participating in Ladera Pride and Mission Viejo Pride events and supporting the advocacy work of Pride at the Pier.

We believe it is not important, but essential, to be an ally for the LBGTQIA+ community and will continue our work to bring access and equity to all students seeking higher education.
